Max Bungert is a litigation attorney who focuses his practice on asbestos and toxic tort litigation, mass torts, medical malpractice, personal injury, premises liability, and products liability. Max litigates matters for clients ranging from injured individuals to small businesses and large companies, and uses his experience in all phases of litigation to obtain favorable results.
Prior to joining HME, Max clerked for multiple civil litigation firms, where he assisted clients in all manner of catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims. He also served as a Judicial Extern to Judge Diego Hunt in the First Judicial District of Colorado. Max joined HME as a clerk in 2020, and stayed on as an attorney following his graduation from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2021.
During law school, Max was a member of the College of Law’s nationally recognized Trial Team and served as an Articles Editor for the Journal of Law, Technology & Policy. He also gained valuable courtroom experience as a member of the Federal Civil Rights Clinic, through which he was provisionally admitted to the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois and represented clients with civil rights claims in federal court.
Max received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, where he studied Political Science and History and interned with the local State Attorney’s office.
Max is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. He lives in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.
