Shivani Bahl

Shivani Bahl is a litigation attorney who focuses her practice on civil rights, toxic tort, mass tort, medical malpractice, and personal injury litigation. Her success stems from the personal attention she provides to every client, whether it be an individual person, a small business, or a nationwide company.

Shivani has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences and trial. She has also handled the direct and cross examination of Plaintiffs, Defendants, and key witnesses in hundreds of depositions. Working on both sides of the aisle has given Shivani a unique perspective that she utilizes in her everyday practice.

Shortly after joining HME, Shivani vacated a 15-million dollar judgment against her client after successfully arguing defects in service. She has also taken lead on multiple probate cases in an effort to ease the burden on clients who have lost a loved one. At the end of the day, Shivani’s goal is to achieve the best result possible for her clients.

Shivani received her bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies with a specialization in Pre-Law and a minor in Criminal Justice from Southern Illinois University—Carbondale. She then continued her education at The John Marshall Law School (now University of Illinois Chicago School of Law), where she was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and held a leadership position in the South Asian Law Student Association. While in law school, Shivani clerked for a prominent Chicago personal injury firm and worked in John Marshall’s Fair Housing Clinic, where she provided legal assistance to both public and private organizations that sought to eliminate discriminatory housing practices.

Shivani is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and South Asian Bar Association. She currently resides in Chicago’s Lakeview East neighborhood with her boyfriend and their chihuahua, Churro.
